Broncos vs Raiders Week 16 | 2021 Season

With the 17-13 win against the division rivals Broncos vs Raiders game on Sunday, the Las Vegas Raiders kept their playoff chances up and now sit 8-7 in the AFC West. Quarterback Derek Carr and running back Josh Jacobs both rallied and finished strong in their home victory in Sin City.

The Raiders had the NFL’s fourth-worst rushing attack entering Sunday, averaging only 85.6 rushing yards per game. Jacobs carried 27 times for 129 yards while Peyton Barber was also involved, gaining 22 yards and a touchdown on 5 attempts.

With Teddy Bridgewater out due to injury, the Denver Broncos called up Drew Lock for the start this week. Lock totaled 153 yards on 15 of 22 passes. The Broncos’ run game was non-existent as Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams combined for only 8 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries.

Despite a lost fumble late in the second quarter, Jacobs told his coaches to give him a chance to build his rhythm, and it sure paid off as he tallied up his first 100-yard rushing game of the season. “Just give me a chance to play the style of ball that I want to play; the offensive line, we all came to an agreement and went out there and did it and executed,” said Jacobs.

Carr threw for 201 yards with one interception and one touchdown that came early in the second quarter connecting with receiver Hunter Renfrow at the corner of the end zone. The Raiders had to grind through another week without tight end Darren Waller, but backup tight end Foster Moreau took advantage of his opportunity and led the Silver & Black in receiving yards that day with 67.

The Broncos were aiming to score a game-winning drive with only a few minutes remaining and a four-point deficit. Denver was poised to cross midfield after Lock converted a tremendous 4th down pass to Courtland Sutton, but tight end Albert Okwuegbunam failed to catch a ball that would have put the Broncos in the red zone.

After all that they have been through this 2021, the Raiders are still alive. Hoping to keep the momentum going, the Raiders will travel to Lucas Oil Stadium to face the Indianapolis Colts next Sunday on January 2.
