Raiders draft DT Byron Young with 70th overall pick

With the 70th overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders draft DT Byron Young from the University of Alabama.

Over the course of four seasons with the Crimson Tide, Young recorded 130 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks across 54 games played. In 2022, the defensive tackle made all 13 starts and recorded a career high 28 pressures in addition to nine quarterback hits, which was the highest among SEC IDL according to Pro Football Focus.

Young also played in the Senior Bowl in February and was named All-SEC by the Associated Press. The top-100 national prospect gained interest from many NFL teams due to his technical savviness and strengths at attacking blocks.

As the Las Vegas Raiders draft DT Byron Young, the 6-foot-3, 294 pound defensive tackle should give the Raiders front a nice boost.
