Raiders draft TE Michael Mayer with 35th overall pick
With the 35th overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders draft TE Michael Mayer from the University of Notre Dame. The Raiders traded their 38th and 141st overall picks to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for the 35th pick.
After accumulating 809 yards and nine touchdowns on 67 receptions across 12 games, Mayer was named a first-team All-American and qualified for the John Mackey Award finals for 2022. The John Mackey Award is given yearly to the best tight end in collegiate football.
In his last season with Notre Dame, Mayer recorded 67 receptions, 809 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns. He broke Notre Dame’s single season record for receiving touchdowns by a tight end, which was previously held by Mayer himself.
