Las Vegas Raiders sign DT Byron Young to a four-year deal

Announced on Monday, the Las Vegas Raiders sign DT Byron Young to a four-year contract worth $5.7 million with a $1.03 million cap hit for the 2023 NFL season. Raiders took the Alabama product at the 70th overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Young recorded 138 tackles, 56 solo tackles, eight sacks, three passes defensed, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery across 54 games played with 26 starts between 2019 to 2022. The 6-foot-3, 292 pound defensive tackle was selected to the first-team All-SEC by the Associated Press and the second-team All-American by the AFCA following a season where he totaled 48 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, two passes defensed and one forced fumble in only 13 games.

The Laurel, Mississippi native attended West Jones High School and finished his senior year with 125 tackles, 29.5 TFLs, and 17.5 sacks. In the Mississippi 5A Region 3, his 17.5 sacks were ranked at the top of the leaderboard, while his 125 tackles were third highest.

As the Las Vegas Raiders sign DT Byron Young, he becomes the second defensive tackle signing by the Silver and Black following Nesta Jade Silvera.
