Las Vegas Raiders sign DT Vernon Butler following an announcement on Wednesday
The Las Vegas Raiders sign DT Vernon Butler, an unrestricted free agent that played with the Buffalo Bills last season and the Carolina Panthers from 2016 through 2019. The Panthers drafted Butler in 2016 with the 30th overall pick in the first round.
In his time in Carolina, Butler started in 10 games out of the 24 games played and recorded 29 tackles, 11 solo tackles, one pass defensed, and one forced fumble. Butler has totaled 19 starts in 76 games played, 106 tackles, 56 solo tackles, eight sacks, three passes defensed, four forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in his NFL career.
On a one-year deal, the Las Vegas Raiders sign DT Vernon Butler, 27, who joins defensive tackle Andrew Billings and Kendal Vickers and can compete for a spot on the starting roster. In college at Louisiana Tech, Butler earned All-Conference USA First Team honors during his senior year.
