Las Vegas Raiders sign LB Robert Spillane
Announced on Thursday, the Las Vegas Raiders sign LB Robert Spillane to a two-year deal worth a max of $9 million with over $4 million guaranteed.
In his five-year NFL career, Spillane spent his first season in Tennessee and the last four in Pittsburgh while starting a total of 16 games. He played in 52 games with the Steelers while starting in 16. There he totaled 166 tackles, 111 solo tackles, eight passes defensed, three sacks, one pick six, one fumble recovery, and 25 stops on special teams.
Last season, the 27-year-old linebacker played in 16 games while starting in five and reached career highs in tackles with 77, tackles for loss with four, and passes defensed with four.
An Oak Park, Illinois native, Spillane spent four seasons playing for Western Michigan from 2014 to 2017. During that time, he made 312 tackles, 32.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, four picks, five passes defensed, two fumble recoveries, and three forced fumbles. His final two seasons saw him earn All-Mid-American Conference Second Team honors.
As the Raiders sign LB Robert Spillane, it’s nice to have acquired one of the top inside linebackers from the AFC North.
