Las Vegas Raiders sign QB Garrett Gilbert, former Washington Commanders backup

Adding some depth to the quarterback chart, the Las Vegas Raiders sign QB Garrett Gilbert. Gilbert was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2014 NFL Draft and has previously played with the Washington Commanders and the Dallas Cowboys.

As a replacement starter last season for Washington, the 6’4”, 221-pound quarterback started only his second career game and went 20 for 31 passing with 194 yards. In eight career games, Gilbert has gone 43 for 75 passes with 477 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

A native from Austin, Texas, Gilbert started 37 games out of 47 in his collegiate career with Texas (2009–2011) and Southern Methodist (2012–2013). During that time he finished with 9,761 yards, 49 passing touchdowns, and 45 picks, while rushing for 1,013 yards and 20 touchdowns.

With Marcus Mariota currently as a free agent, the Las Vegas Raiders sign QB Garrett Gilbert who becomes the only QB behind Derek Carr.
