Raiders Sign S Matthias Farley

Las Vegas Raiders sign S Matthias Farley to active roster

On Thursday, the Las Vegas Raiders sign S Matthias Farley and elevate him from the practice squad to the active roster. Seeing action in both Weeks 1 and 2, mostly as a special teams player, Farley will be promoted for the fourth consecutive week.

For the first three games of the season, the safety has played at his position as well as special teams while recording one tackle. Farley took 16 snaps in the Raiders Week 1 loss against the Los Angeles Chargers. In Week 2, he also took 16 snaps on special teams along with three snaps as a safety against the Arizona Cardinals, recording one tackle. We expect that the Raiders sign S Matthias Farley with the notion that his experience will help impact the defense.

Over the course of his first six seasons in the NFL, the 30 year old Farley has recorded 174 tackles, three picks, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. The Notre Dame prospect played for the Tennessee Titans during the 2021–22 season and played in all 17 games while recording a total of 16 tackles, one forced fumble, and one recovered fumble.

Prior to joining Tennessee, Farley played for the New York Jets (2019-20) and the Indianapolis Colts (2016–18). He has played in 86 career games, with 18 of them starts. In those 86 games, he has racked up 137 tackles, 82 solo tackles, three interceptions, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and 14 passes defended.

In his time at Notre Dame, the Charlotte, North Carolina native played for four seasons and started in 52 games. Farley finished with 192 tackles, 3.5 sacks, eight picks, 13 passes defensed, and one forced fumble.

As the Raiders sign S Matthias Farley, they have also waived S Isaiah Pola-Mao.
