Las Vegas Raiders sign WR DeAndre Carter to a one-year deal
Announced on Thursday, the Las Vegas Raiders sign WR DeAndre Carter to a one-year contract. Last season for the Los Angeles Chargers, Carter caught 46 passes for 538 yards and three touchdowns . He also returned 29 punts for an average of 11.7 yards and 26 kickoffs for an average of 19.1 yards. His punt return average ranked second in the league.
Being in the league for five years, Carter has started in 20 games over the 77 he has played in, including stints with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018, the Houston Texans from 2018 to 2020, the Chicago Bears in 2020, the Washington Commanders in 2021, and the Los Angeles Chargers last season. Within that timeframe he has caught 104 passes for 1,220 yards and six touchdowns.
Additionally, Carter recorded 107 kickoff returns for 2,384 yards and one touchdown. He also totaled 108 punt returns for 1,062 yards. His 9.83 lifetime punt return average since 2018 is second in the league over that time period. So not only do the Silver and Black get a solid receiver as the Raiders sign WR DeAndre Carter, they also get great depth to their special teams.
The San Jose, California native spent his collegiate career at Sacramento State from 2011 to 2014, receiving FCS All-America honors from The Associated Press and was selected to the first-team All-Big Sky Conference after his last year where he led all FCS receivers with 99 receptions for 1,321 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.
As the Las Vegas Raiders sign WR DeAndre Carter, we expect the 5-foot-8, 190 pound receiver to start alongside Davante Adams.
