Losing 28-13 in the Raiders vs Buccaneers Week 14 match on Sunday, the Raiders stay in last place in the AFC West while the Buccs stay in contention win the NFC South. The chances of Tampa winning a fourth straight NFC South title is getting higher by the week.
Winning three games in a row, the Buccs were led by quarterback Baker Mayfield who threw for 295 passing yards and three touchdowns, while Aidan O’Connell threw for 104 yards on 11 for 19 attempts and rushed in a touchdown early in the second quarter of the game.
Unfortunately, O’Connell had to leave the game following a knee injury late in the third quarter and was replaced by backup QB Desmond Ridder. O’Connell threw an 8-yard completion to Las Vegas Raiders receiver Jakobi Meyers but was shoved on the back to the ground by Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Calijah Kancey and had to get carted off.

“Prayers to him. I pray for a speedy recovery,” said Kancey. “I hope everything’s good on their end. I definitely took a knee and prayed for him.”
Ridder almost exactly matched O’Connell’s stat line, throwing for 101 yards on 12 for 18 passing attempts. Yet the Raiders remained without any more touchdowns for the rest of the game, with Carlson kicking in two field goals.
Tampa Bay running back Rachaad White rushed in a 3-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter, while Mayfield found receiver Jalen McMillan for his second receiving touchdown of the night to put the final nail in the coffin.
The Las Vegas Raiders have now lost a league leading nine games in a row. Yes, nine.
“I appreciate the effort, the grit, the fight,” said Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce. “Listen, it’s tough. And these guys, they’re not flinching or blinking. They still believe. All of those guys are fighting until the very end. Proud of the effort.”
A for effort, F for failure. The Raiders will travel back home to Allegiant Stadium in Week 15 to host another NFC South title contender, the Atlanta Falcons.
