In what would have been the biggest upset this season at Arrowhead Stadium, the Raiders vs Chiefs Week 13 matchup almost went in the favor of the Silver and Black, who lost 17-19 on Friday.
Quarterback Aidan O’Connell threw for 23 completions on 35 attempts for 340 yards and two touchdowns without any interceptions. Three time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes also topped 300 yards, going for 306 and a touchdown on 26 for 46.
Raiders rookie tight end Brock Bowers had another gigantic game, catching 10 out of his 14 targets for 140 receiving yards and a touchdown, which came late in the third quarter to put the Raiders at a one-possession game down 10-16. The game wasn’t without its mistakes, which mostly landed on kicker Daniel Carlson who pretty much had been money all season. The vet missed three crucial 50-yard field goals throughout the game, which would have given the Raiders at least a two-possession lead.

There was plenty of time on the clock, and somehow the Raiders had all the momentum in the world in their last drive after the warning. Following a crucial first down on the 38 yard line, the Raiders were unable to convert another first down over the next two plays, bringing them to a 3rd and 3. Opting out of a cold Carlson, the Raiders went for it but O’Connell missed the hike which bounced off his shoulder while red jerseys hounded over the ball, ending the game in a disaster for the Silver and Black.
These types of endings are gut wrenching, and the most upsetting all season. The Raiders will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14.
