Raiders vs Chiefs Week 18 | 2022 Season

We hoped to end the 2022 NFL season on a good note but taking an L on the Raiders vs Chiefs Week 18 game only leaves us in bitter taste. After the number of great acquisitions that came onboard over the course of the offseason, we couldn’t have imagined a worse outcome than to finish 6–11 while losing our last 3 games. At least we performed better than the Denver Broncos, but that isn’t saying much.

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 31–13 at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes who set the NFL single season record for total yardage with 5,614, surpassing the legendary Drew Brees. Mahomes finished the game with 202 passing yards and a lone touchdown, thrown to running back Jerick McKinnon on a 2-yarder during the first drive of the first quarter. Prior to the score, a 67-yard passing play to Justin Watson immediately swung the game’s momentum for the Chiefs.

Utilizing six different players on the offensive rush game, the Chiefs were able to accumulate 168 yards on the ground through 28 carries. Running back Isiah Pacheco, Ronald Jones, and wide receiver Kadarius Toney were each able to successfully reach the end zone. On the side of the Silver and Black, running back Josh Jacobs rushed for 45 yards on 17 carries. Jacobs had the opportunity to win the NFL’s rushing title, and surely did so with 1,653 yards for the season. Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry sits in second place with 1,538.

Quarterback Jarrett Stidham also used the run game to tally 50 yards on 7 carries. Through 36 passing attempts, Stidham completed 22 while racking up 219 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Receiver Hunter Renfrow caught the Las Vegas Raiders only touchdown of the game on a 11-yard play through the middle of the fourth quarter, and by that point it was all she wrote as the Raiders were down 31–13. Renfrow recorded 63 receiving yards while Davante Adams recorded 73 and led the league in third place with 1,516 receiving yards, trailing behind Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson (1,809) and Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill (1,710).

Raiders One favorite marksman Daniel Carlson successfully kicked both of his field goals in the Raiders vs Chiefs Week 18 matchup, and finished the 2022 season shooting 34 for 37, missing only 3 field goals. Our other favorite, Derek Carr, was benched once again in favor of Stidham, but at this point we’d wish we saw him on the field to finish 2022.

A lot of questions will be up in the air as we roll into this offseason. Stay tuned here at Raiders One as we’ll be covering each breaking update for the Silver and Black.
