In one of the most unique endings to an NFL game, the Silver and Black took advantage on defense and found a way to win the Raiders vs Patriots Week 15 match at home in Allegiant Stadium. On the final play of the game, Raiders defensive end Chandler Jones intercepted a lateral pass from Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers and ran it down the field to give the Las Vegas Raiders the 24–30 victory.
“At first, I thought, ‘Who’s around me?’” said Jones. “I felt myself stumble a little backwards, and then I was thinking, ‘Who do I pitch it to?’”
With the game tied and only 3 seconds left on the clock in the fourth, New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson bursted down the middle and lateraled to Meyers who then attempted to lob it all the way back to Pats quarterback Mac Jones, only to get picked off by Chander Jones for the 48-yard pick six. With the victory, the Las Vegas Raiders now have a 6–8 record and are tied for 9th in the AFC.
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr completed 20 passes in 28 attempts for 231 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receivers Keelan Cole and Mack Hollins caught a touchdown each while tight end Darren Waller, who played in his first game since Week 5 due to a hamstring injury, caught the Raiders first touchdown of the game early in the second quarter.
Receiver Davante Adams didn’t see much action, as one of his rare targets in the game led to an interception touchdown by Pats cornerback Kyle Dugger. In a blink of an eye, the Las Vegas Raiders 3–17 halftime lead became a 24–17 deficit following two field goals by Pats kicker Nick Folk and a 34-yard rushing touchdown by Stevenson. Adding fuel to the fire, the Pats succeeded on their two-point conversion as Mac Jones found Meyers wide open.
In their last scoring possession, the Raiders went on to execute 9 plays and gained 81 yards in just 99 seconds. Carr then found Cole for a 30-yard touchdown pass to tie the game. Big clutch energy right there. Meyers then threw us a nice favor to top off the Sunday.
Traveling to Acrisure Stadium, the Raiders will face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers on the night of Christmas Eve. If plans turn out right, the Silver and Black will be putting some Cole in the Steelers’ stockings.
