Raiders vs Rams Week 14 | 2022 Season

With playoff hopes at stake, the Raiders vs Rams week 14 game on Thursday night wasn’t decided until the very last ten seconds when quarterback Baker Mayfield stunned his new home field at SoFi Stadium. With a win, the Las Vegas Raiders would’ve had a 6–7 record with a long week break. Instead, they fell down to 6–7 with the 16–17 loss, hurting their chances at playoff contention.

The Las Vegas Raiders were the first team on the board as they scored on their first drive of the game. Josh Jacobs rushed for 6 attempts out of the 12 plays made that drive and secured a 1-yard rushing touchdown. Daniel Carlson kicked two field goals before the break while Rams kicker Matt Gay scored of his own to bring the game to 13–3. The Raiders defense looked sharp as they forced a fumble on a 1st & 10 rush by Rams running back Cam Akers prior to halftime.

The scoreboard stayed static for a majority of the third quarter as each team’s drive resulted in three and outs with punt after punt. Gay missed a field goal on the Rams third drive of the quarter whereas Carlson shot a 36-yarder to bring the lead to 16–3.

Raiders vs Rams Week 14 – 2022 Season Highlights

With about 12 minutes left in the Raiders vs Rams week 14 game, we didn’t want things to get too interesting as the Raiders had a good chunk lead to ride out on. Yet Baker Mayfield, who was just claimed off waivers by the Rams on Tuesday, led his team on a 75-yard touchdown drive resulting in a Cam Akers touchdown.

The Rams were able to stop Jacobs and the Raiders to a three and out, which gave them good position to either tie or win the game after the two-minute warning. On a 3rd & 1, Mayfield threw a pick but a flag was thrown for a pass interference call on cornerback Amik Robertson. Then Raiders’ Jerry Tillery received a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, a tide turning play that in hindsight cost the game.

Baker began to heat up with two big throws to wide receiver Skowronek to bring them closer to scoring position. With ten seconds left on the clock, Baker connected with Jefferson in the end zone for a 23-yard touchdown to give the Rams a 16-17 lead, and eventually the win.

No excuses. Carr threw for 137 yards and two picks, arguably his worst outing this season since the loss to the Saints, and only found Davante Adams three times the whole game. Jacobs had a decent rushing day with 99 yards on 27 carries. Our expectations were set much higher after last week’s win, and the Las Vegas Raiders simply need to play better.

For Week 15, the Raiders will travel back home to face off against the New England Patriots on Sunday, December 18.
