With their first win of the 2024 NFL Season, quarterback Gardner Minshew led the charge with a 26-23 victory in the Raiders vs Ravens Week 2 matchup on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium. Throughout the game, both teams answered back to their opponent’s previous possessions with an astounding seven lead changes total.
Minshew completed 30 passes on 38 attempts with 276 yards, one passing touchdown, and one pick. The first half only consisted of field goals as expected with two of the best kickers in history in Justin Tucker and Daniel Carlson. Trading goals, Baltimore was up one with a 6-9 lead after the first half.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson found receiver Zay Flowers at the very start of the third quarter with a 8-yard touchdown to extend their lead to 6-16. A few possessions later, Raiders running back Alexander Mattison found the end zone with a 1-yard touchdown to bring the game to only one possession.
Raiders vs Ravens Week 2 | 2024 Season Highlights

Against one of the best teams in the league, Minshew held his poise, even after Ravens running back Derrick Henry rushed for a 3-yard touchdown at the beginning of the fourth. Down 16-23 after Carlson’s successful 25-yarder, Minshew tied the game with under four minutes on the clock when he connected with the one and only Davante Adams in the end zone for a 1-yard TD.
Defensive end Maxx Crosby set the tone on the Ravens’ next possession as he sacked Jackson for a big loss. On a 3rd and 19, Jackson found teammate Justice Hill but couldn’t get enough yardage, causing them to only punt for 24 yards while committing a 5-yard penalty.
On the next drive, the combination of Minshew and running back Zamir White put the Raiders on the Baltimore 19. Then on 4th and 2, Carlson was called up for the easy (for him) 38-yard field to win the game.
The Raiders now have a 1-1 record and will travel back home for their season home opener against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, September 22.
