It’s a Christmas miracle — the Silver and Black won once again in the Raiders vs Saints Week 17 matchup on Sunday, marking their first back to back victory in the 2024 NFL season. Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell threw for two touchdowns while star tight end Brock Bowers set two rookie records in the 25-10 win.
In fact, Bowers broke two records on Sunday. The first was a 63 year old record that was previously held by Chicago Bears tight end Mike Ditka who recorded 1,067 receiving yards as a rookie in 1961. The second record was held by Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua who caught 105 receptions as a rookie last season in 2023.
With 108 catches and 1,144 receiving yards, Bowers is now in his own category with a bright future ahead of him. We’re sure glad he wears the Silver and Black. Now onto the game.
Raiders vs Saints Week 17 | 2024 Season Highlights
New Orleans Saints backup quarterback Spencer Rattler found former Raiders tight end Foster Moreau for a 30-yard touchdown to start off the second quarter. Right before halftime, O’Connell and receiver Jakobi Meyers linked up for a 3-yard touchdown play to put Vegas up 13-7 going into the break.
O’Connell then found receiver Tre Tucker in the fourth quarter for a 18 yard TD. With less than 9 minutes to go and up 25-10, the Raiders secured the game after picking off Rattler on a 2nd and 16 on the New Orleans 40. Raiders cornerback Jack Jones stole the pass as it was directed toward Saints tight end Juwan Johnson.
There was word that flight delays caused the New Orleans Saints to arrive at the hotel past midnight, which was less than 12 hours before kickoff. Tough luck I guess. You win some and you lose some, and we’ll take this win any day.
To finish the 2024 NFL season, the Raiders will host the Los Angeles Chargers at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, January 5.
