Las Vegas Raiders sign LB Amari Burney

Announced on Thursday, the Las Vegas Raiders sign LB Amari Burney. Burney was the 203rd overall pick by the Raiders in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Throughout his five years at the University of Florida, Burney totaled 223 tackles, 121 solo tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 12 passes defended, 4 picks, 7 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries. The 6-foot-2, 228 pound linebacker played in 58 games while starting in 22 starts over the course of his collegiate career.

Last year, Burney set career highs with 79 tackles, nine tackles for loss, four sacks, and two picks. He was the only SEC player that accumulated two picks and four sacks. The St. Petersburg, Florida native played his last season at Calvary Christian High School after transferring from Clearwater Central Catholic.

“I can be very effective,” Burney told the media. “I feel like when I’m in coverage, you don’t have to double the man that I’m guarding, so you can use the safety to be a rat or something like that.”

As the Las Vegas Raiders sign LB Amari Burney, he joins his cousin Brandon Facyson as part of the Raiders.
