Raiders Sign CB Anthony Averett

Las Vegas Raiders sign CB Anthony Averett, two-time Crimson Tide champion

On a one-year $4.5 million deal, the Las Vegas Raiders sign CB Anthony Averett, the former cornerback from the Baltimore Ravens from 2018 to 2021. The Ravens drafted Averett 118th overall in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Spending four seasons in Baltimore, the Alabama product started 42 games of the 44 games played and recorded 97 tackles (83 solo tackles) with three picks and 22 passes defended. Raiders sign CB Anthony Averett, the 5’11” 178-pound cornerback on a one-year $4.5 million deal.

Coming off a career year, Averett only gave up a 55.4 percent completion rate last season with a QB rating of 77.5 off of 101 targets. This move boosts the Las Vegas Raiders secondary with the addition of the 27-year-old, though there is some risk as Averett has never played a full season due to injuries.

With the existing Las Vegas Raiders cornerbacks Trayvon Mullen and Nate Hobbs, Averett’s inclusion alongside Darius Phillips and Rock Ya-Sin has been a big upgrade for the Silver & Black. The Raiders are now much deeper at the CB position.
