Las Vegas Raiders sign QB Jimmy Garoppolo to three-year, $72 million deal
Announced on Friday, the Las Vegas Raiders sign QB Jimmy Garoppolo to a three-year $72 million contract which includes $34 million guaranteed. Going into his 10th year in the league, Garoppolo brings in veteran quarterback experience, as well as his looks, to the Silver and Black.
The 31-year-old Garoppolo helped the San Francisco 49ers win three NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl after being traded to them in October 2017. He was originally a 62nd overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He was also part of the Patriots’ Super Bowl champion teams in the 2014-2015 and 2016-2017 seasons.
It was tough to see Derek Carr go, but knowing the Raiders sign QB Jimmy Garoppolo, it’s good to have his level of experience on the field. Just to note, the Raiders have the 7th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and may consider picking a QB.
Throughout 57 games with the 49ers, Jimmy G reached a passer rating of 99.2 while throwing for 13,599 yards, 82 touchdowns and 42 picks. He had a 38-17 record and won four of his six NFL playoff games as part of the Red and Gold. Last season, he replaced rookie Trey Lance following his injury, but suffered an injury of his own after starting in 10 games. In 2022, Garoppolo recorded 2,437 passing yard,16 touchdowns, and four picks.
As the Las Vegas Raiders sign QB Jimmy Garoppolo, he reunites with coach Josh McDaniels who coached him as the offensive coordinator of the Patriots from 2014 to 2017.
