Las Vegas Raiders sign TE Michael Mayer to four-year deal
Announced on Wednesday, the Las Vegas Raiders sign TE Michael Mayer to a four-year rookie contract worth $9.3 million. Mayer was drafted by the Raiders with the 35th overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
The 6-foot-4, 265 pound Mayer played in 36 games across three seasons in Notre Dame, setting marks at the tight end position with 180 receptions for 2,099 receiving yards and 18 receiving touchdowns. Mayer was named first-team All-American by the Associated Press in 2022 and was also a John Mackey Award finalist.
Mayer was the only tight end in the FBS to record more than 800 receiving yards in both the 2021 and 2022 seasons, and led all FBS tight ends in 2022 with nine touchdowns.
As Raiders sign TE Michael Mayer, the young rookie tight end is expected to replace Darren Waller.
