Raiders Sign WR Keelan Cole

Las Vegas Raiders sign WR Keelan Cole to active roster

Announced today, the Las Vegas Raiders sign WR Keelan Cole from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, taking the place of WR DJ Turner who was recently placed on injury reserve. When the team’s roster was cut to 53 players in June, Cole was released from his contract with the Raiders, but was able to re-sign last week with the Raiders’ practice squad.

We expect that the Raiders sign WR Keelan Cole with the intention for him to be active in the upcoming Week 2 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The receiver was brought in this summer to play a significant role in the offense, but after being outperformed by Turner and Tyron Johnson, he was released. Cole was then added to the practice squad last week, and he’s once more a member of the 53-man active roster as originally intended.

Over his six NFL career seasons, this would be the first time Cole will play for the Silver and Black. Previously, he has played for the New York Jets and spent his first four NFL seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who signed him in 2017 as an undrafted free agent.

Just last season, Cole caught 28 catches for the Jets for 449 yards and a touchdown. Cole has played a total of 79 NFL games while making 34 starts and recording 187 passes for 2,691 yards and 13 touchdowns.

As the Las Vegas Raiders sign WR Keelan Cole, it was also officially announced that CB Nickell Robey-Coleman and C Billy Price have been added to the practice squad. This would provide them with some needed veteran depth at each position.

Last season, Robey-Coleman played with the Detroit Lions and appeared in one game. He also made seven starts in 15 games for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. Price started 15 games for the New York Giants last season and was the Cincinnati Bengals’ 21st overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
