Raiders vs Cardinals Week 2 | 2022 Season

A 59-yard fumble return in overtime of the Raiders vs Cardinals Week 2 game caused the Silver and Black to lose their biggest lead in franchise history. Kyler Murray led the Cardinals down 0-20 and pushed his team to a 29-23 victory as the Las Vegas Raiders were left stunned on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium.

Everything about the first half of the game belonged to the Raiders. On all four offensive possessions during the first and second quarters, the Raiders were able to put up numbers on each scoring drive, starting off with a short 1-yarder connection between quarterback Derek Carr and wide receiver Davante Adams in the end zone.

After stopping the Cardinals in six plays, the Raiders went back at it going 66 yards in 9 plays and allowed kicker Daniel Carlson to launch a 32-yard field goal to put his team up 10-0. Murray couldn’t get much going on his second drive of the game, and it led to a punt which then resulted in a 3-yard touchdown for tight end Darren Waller. Carlson topped it off with another field goal before halftime.

The Raiders vs Cardinals game looked all gravy for the Silver and Black as they were up 20-0 up until the Cardinals started to gain momentum after the break. Both teams punted in their first possessions in the second half, but the Cards were the first to score when Murrary found receiver Greg Dortch for a touchdown to bring the score to 20-7.

A third field goal for Carlson was another success, but on the opposite end the Cards were able to score two eight point conversions to tie up the game. After a rushing touchdown by running back Darrel Williams, the Cards opted in for a two-point-play and Murray scrambled for over 20 seconds and ran into the end zone in what became the biggest momentum shift for the day.

The Cards regained possession and Murray was able to convert a 4th & 1 with 2:30 on the clock while evading Raiders DE Maxx Crosby. On another 4th down, Murray scrambled through another Crosby tackle and threw an incomplete pass but the play was flagged with a holding call on the Raiders. With 5 seconds left in the 4th quarter, Murray rushed 5 yards for a touchdown, then connected with A.J. Green for the 2 point conversion.

Arizona won the coin toss in overtime, but the Raiders got the ball back after safety Duron Harmon blocked a deep pass to receiver Marquise Brown. Unfortunately, the last two plays for the Raiders resulted in two fumbles by Hunter Renfrow, with the latter being a fumble recovery touchdown by Byron Murphy Jr.

The 0-2 start isn’t going to sit well. The Raiders must win their next game on Sunday, September 25 against the Tennessee Titans.
