In a 31-16 pre-season finale loss, the Raiders vs Cowboys Week 3 game at AT&T Stadium still had some positive notes for the Silver and Black as receiver Kristian Wilkerson and quarterback Aidan O’ Connell displayed great chemistry on the field.
Both starters sat for both teams, which included quarterbacks Jimmy Garaoppolom and Dak Prescott, running backs Zamir White and Ameer Abdullah, as well as every single Dallas starter. Prescott was seen hounding backup QB Will Grier as the 2019 third round pick completed 29 for 35 passes with 305 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and two rushing touchdowns.
Grier completed a rushing touchdown play early on in the first quarter to score the first touchdown of the game. The 28 year old threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Cowboys receiver Luke Schoonmaker during the middle of the second quarter to bring their lead to 14-3.
On the Raiders end, rushing back Damien Williams ran a 24-yard touchdown with 5 minutes left to go in the second quarter. Grier then answered back with a 15-yard tuddy to running back Hunter Kuepke to extend the lead even further. Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson launched a 62-yard bomb to finish off the first half. To no one’s surprise, Carlson ended the game 3 for 3.
Grier rushed in another touchdown in the third quarter, then Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey completed a 59-yarder in the fourth to bring the score to 31-16.
The loss ended a six-game pre-season winning streak for the Las Vegas Raiders, which was a record tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the longest streak in the NFL. Following a week break, the Raiders will start their 2023 NFL journey on Sunday, September 10 against their division rivals, the Denver Broncos.
