Raiders vs Jaguars | 2022 Hall of Fame Game

The NFL celebrated the 2022 Hall of Fame Game with a pre-preseason matchup between the Raiders vs Jaguars. There has only ever been nine games between these two franchises in NFL history, and the tenth match went in favor of the Silver and Black in a 27-11 victory.

What a nice homecoming for head coach Josh McDaniels at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. In this exact stadium, formerly known as Fawcett Stadium, McDaniels played varsity quarterback and kicker at Canton McKinley High School under his father, Thom McDaniels.

“It was a unique opportunity, very grateful that I had it,” said McDaniels. “It’s the first time I’ve been to this Hall of Fame game in 22 years. To have an opportunity to do that with him here, my family and people who helped me along the way, it was a special night for them. I really savored it.”

Raiders vs Jaguars – 2022 Hall of Fame Game Highlights

The 2022 Hall of Fame Game highlights included a strong showcase by the Raiders running backs— fourth-year Josh Jacobs, Austin Walter, and rookie Zamir White. Although they warmed up, quarterback Derek Carr and three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams did not take the field. Many well known starters on both teams didn’t play either, including Jacksonville Jaguars’ sophomore quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

That said, our favorite player showed up once again. Yes, you guessed it. Daniel Carlson took the stage twice in the first quarter and racked up a couple of field goals for the first two scoring drives of the Raiders vs Jaguars game. Carlson’s first field goal was a 32-yarder and his second was a 55-yard bomb. He was also able to secure both extra points following running back Ameer Abdullah’s 8-yard touchdown and Jarret Stidham’s 12-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

On the first play from scrimmage for the 2022 Hall of Fame Game, Jacksonville Jaguars’ top pick Travon Walker was penalized for roughing the passer against Raiders backup QB Jarrett Stidham. Walker eventually recorded a sack.

Down 20-0, Jaguars’ Elliott Fry was able to kick a 46-yard field goal to put them on the board toward the end of the third quarter. Before the time expired, Willie Johnson returned a punt for an 88-yard return touchdown, but the play was called back due to a holding penalty.

In the fourth quarter, former New York Jet and San Francisco 49er Austin Walter scored an 8-yard touchdown. Walter finished the night with 49 yards on eight carries and a score, only under Zamir White’s 52 yards on 11 carries. Jaguars quarterback Kyle Sloter was able to secure a passing touchdown to Nathan Cottrell on a short pass with less than four minutes on the clock. Cottrell also got the two-point conversion.

Coach Doug Pederson’s first game with the Jaguars came to an end as the Silver and Black claimed victory in the 2022 Hall of Fame Game. In the upcoming Week 1 preseason game, the Las Vegas Raiders will face off against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, August 14 at Allegiant Stadium.
