For their fifth game of the season, the Bears vs Raiders matchup was held in Sam’s Town at Allegiant Stadium. Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields threw for his first career touchdown while Derek Carr went scoreless for the Silver & Black. The Bears run game wrote most of the story Sunday afternoon while the Raiders were playing catch-up for a majority of the game.
The trustworthy Daniel Carlson had a 31-yard kick with 4 minutes left of the 1st quarter. On the very next possession, the Bears spent the next 6 minutes driving up 72 yards off 10 plays to give Fields the opportunity to score his first touchdown of the season along with his young NFL career. His short 2 yard pass was received by backup tight end Jesper Horsted.
The Raiders were unable to answer on their own possession and gave up another 7 to Chicago as they played a mixed usage of both Fields and Andy Dalton, as well as their backup running game. Filling in for the injured David Montgomery, Bears backup running backs Damien Williams and Kahlil Herbert teamed up for 34 carries and 2 receptions for a total of 159 scrimmage yards.
