Las Vegas Raiders sign QB Chase Garbers

Announced on Tuesday, the Las Vegas Raiders sign QB Chase Garbers after releasing the second-year quarterback the days before training camp. Garbers originally signed with the Silver and Black as an undrafted free agent in 2022.

In 2022, Garbers spent 15 games on the practice squad prior to getting promoted to the active roster for the last two games of the season and served as the backup QB to new starter Jarrett Stidham following Derek Carr’s benching.

Garbers played for the University of California from 2018 to 2021, totaling 6,580 passing yards and 11 touchdowns. Starting his senior year, he threw the longest pass recorded against rival Stanford on a 84-yarder to tight end Trevon Clark. Garbers led the Bears to a series-high 636 yards of offense, and he became the first quarterback from California to defeat Stanford on the road in back-to-back contests since Charles Erb in 1921 and 1922.

As the Las Vegas Raiders sign QB Chase Garbers, he will sit at fourth string behind Jimmy Garoppolo, Brian Hoyer, and Aidan O’Connell, respectively.
