Ending the season in Silver and Black fashion, the Las Vegas Raiders defeated the Denver Broncos in the Raiders vs Broncos Week 18 matchup at Allegiant Stadium, giving the fans just what they needed going into the new year. Raiders running back Zamir White played one of his best games this season, reaching 112 rushing yards on 25 carries.
Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell once again threw two touchdowns for his second consecutive game. His first went to receiver Jakobi Meyers toward the end of the first quarter, marking Meyers’ first touchdown since the game against the Los Angeles Chargers on December 1.
O’Connell’s second tuddy went to none other than future Hall of Famer Davante Adams who caught a short pass in the end zone to put his team up 17-7. With five receptions for the day, Adams reached the 100 catches and 1,000 yards mark for the fifth time in his career.
Raiders vs Broncos Week 18 | 2023 Season Highlights
With Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson benched, backup QB Jarrett Stidham led the Broncos with 272 passing yards and one touchdown to Jerry Jeudy. Broncos running back Javonte Williams was able to shorten the point differential to 24-14 with a 2-yard rushing touchdown early in the fourth quarter, but the Raiders were able to hold onto the lead with the remaining ten minutes.
Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson put the final nail in the coffin with a 21-yard field goal just before the second half’s two-minute warning. Going 2-2, Carlson only missed four field goals this season through his 30 attempts.
Although they had lost their playoff hopes the previous week, the Raiders fans at Allegiant Stadium roared for interim coach Antonio Pierce to transition to full-time. Even defensive end Maxx Crosby agreed.
“Why wouldn’t we keep going the direction we’re going?” said Crosby. “The fact we’ve come together and done something special in such a short time is hard to do. We’ve got a guy who’s played at the highest level, won a Super Bowl, he’s been a captain, and now he’s a great coach and he’s a leader.”
Finishing the 2023 season with a 8-9 record, the Raiders will look to add some more pieces this offseason and gear up for 2024.
