Snapping a three game losing streak, the Silver and Back came out with a victory in the Raiders vs Packers Week 5 Monday Night Football showdown back on the Death Star. This was the franchise’s first win against Green Bay since 1987.
Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was back on the field after a week out following a concussion. The 10th year QB threw for 208 passing yards, one touchdown, and one pick. On the other end, Packers QB Jordan Love threw for 182 yards on 16 completions with three picks.
After the Packers succeeded on a first quarter field goal, Jimmy G led the Raiders on a 62-yard drive that spanned over eight minutes. With about four minutes left in the first half, he threw a 9-yard touchdown to receiver Jakobi Meyers, who now has three tuddies for the 2023 NFL season.
Kicker Daniel Carlson did what does best, and extended the lead to 10-3 prior to halftime. Packers answered back in the second half with a field goal and a touchdown to tie the game due to running back AJ Dillon’s 5-yard rush to the end zone.
Bringing the lead to 17-13, Raiders running back Josh Jacobs made a 2-yard rushing touchdown to start the fourth quarter. During the Packers’ possession, Raiders linebacker Robert Spillane made a clutch play where he intercepted Love with nine minutes left to go. Both teams punted on their following possessions and Carlson surprisingly missed a 52-yarder on the Raiders next.
Raiders cornerback Amik Robertson sealed the deal with less than a minute left in the fourth with a pick on Love on a 3rd & 10 at the 35. With the win, the Silver and Black now have a 2-3 record and sit at third place in the AFC West. The New England Patriots will travel to Vegas to face the Raiders in Week 6.
